An 87-year-old woman was found dead with a massive head wound after her emotionally disturbed grandson barricaded himself in her home Thursday morning.
Alice Durso’s bipolar 48-year-old grandson, identified by neighbors and police sources as Eric Perez, went berserk inside her house on Hollywood Ave. near Randall Ave. in Throgs Neck, the Bronx, about 7:20 a.m.
He pitched a chair, two pillows, a small table and other objects off the balcony when police arrived.
“He was out there throwing everything out but the sink,” said neighbor John Slattery, 24. “He was yelling and screaming at the cops.”
As police approached, Perez retreated inside and barricaded himself in a bedroom.
Cops sporting helmets and shields took Perez into custody about 8:45 a.m. The bald, tattooed hulk was led from the two-story home in handcuffs wearing only plaid boxer shorts.
Perez’s mother and stepfather, who were visiting from New Jersey, and his grandma’s home health aide were all injured during Perez’s rampage.
His 55-year-old stepfather suffered head trauma and told cops he was struck by Perez. His 67-year-old mother had a left arm injury, possibly a fracture, and the 56-year-old health aide had a cut to the right side of her face.
All three were taken to Jacobi Medical Center in stable condition, police said.
Perez’s grandmother was found dead on her bedroom floor with blunt force trauma to her head, police said.
Perez was taken to Jacobi Medical Center for psychological evaluation and remained there in police custody Thursday night, cops said.

The city medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine how Durso died.
Durso’s husband made headlines when he went missing more than four years ago — and was never found.
Vincent Durso, a landlord who owns numerous Bronx properties, was 75 when he was last seen about 8:30 p.m. on April 20, 2010. He was dropping off his wife’s home health aide at E. 166th St. and Boston Road after playing tennis.
His black 1997 Honda Accord was found days later parked a mile away but yielded no clues. Police said Thursday the investigation into his disappearance remains active.
“She’s been homebound since Vincent went missing,” a long-time neighbor said of Alice Durso. “Just so nice — real nice lady.”
