A freak accident at an elementary school soccer practice took the life of a 7-year-old New Jersey boy.
Brenden Jordan was playing with a soccer ball at Berkley Elementary School when part of a lunch table fell on his head, police said.
The tables and benches, which fold up like a Murphy bed when not in use, were anchored into a wall.
Somehow, one of the benches, weighing more than 100 pounds, came loose and slammed into Brenden’s head, WABC-TV reported.
The Wednesday night practice was being led by off-duty New Milford police officer Bryan Mone, who administered CPR.
The boy was pronounced dead at Hackensack Medical Center.
