A 2-year-old girl left in her aunt's care in Brooklyn apparently wandered outside alone in frigid temperatures as snow fell early Friday, police said.
The tot was wearing only pajamas and diapers and clutching a bottle when she was spotted by passersby near 19th Ave. and 67th St. in Bensonhurst about 6:30 a.m., police said. Temperatures were in the low 20s.
The girl, who appeared unharmed, was taken to Coney Island Hospital for observation, officials said.
Her panicked aunt, who was babysitting the girl, showed up at the 62nd Precinct stationhouse about 8:55 a.m. to report the child missing, cops said.
The aunt said her brother, the girl's father, had dropped off the toddler and that she and the child had gone to sleep.
When the aunt woke up, the girl was gone. She told police she had no idea how the tot slipped out of her apartment building.
Cops said they did not believe the girl, whose name was not released, was outside for long.
Nobody was immediately charged with a crime, but the incident was reported to the Administration for Children's Services, and police are continuing to investigate, officials said.
