LAPD hunts ‘teardrop rapist’ responsible for 35 sex assaults spanning 16 years 

The fiend has terrorized South Los Angeles by carrying out the armed early morning attacks on girls as young as 14, police said. Authorities are offering $100,000 for the unidentified man's capture. He sports a teardrop tattoo under one of his eyes, but may have had the ink removed.

The Los Angeles Police Department is offering $100,000 for information on a sex fiend dubbed the “teardrop rapist,” who’s been linked to more than 35 sex assaults over a span of 16 years in Los Angeles County.
The unidentified Hispanic man has terrorized South Los Angeles since February 1996, attacking female victims as young as 14, police said. He last struck in 2012.
“The suspect typically approaches women who are alone on their way to school or work or who are waiting at a bus stop, between the hours of 5:15 a.m. and 8 a.m.,” police said in a press release urging any new leads. “The suspects talks with the victim, then threatens to kill them with a handgun or knife. The suspect forces the victim from the sidewalk to a secondary location, where he sexually assaults her.”
Cops say all of the disturbing attacks have been carried out by a man described as having a light complexion, between 40 and 55 years old, standing 5-foot-2 to 5-foot-6, and weighing about 130 to 170 pounds.

His nickname comes from one or two teardrop tattoos the monster sports beneath one of his eyes. The brute may have tried to remove the ink, cops said.
The same suspect is believed to have carried out seven attacks in the year 2000, another eight in 2001 and some five more in 2002.
All the attacks have been linked through DNA evidence and/or descriptions of the suspect’s disturbing ritual.

In November 2011, the fiend approached a 15-year-old girl around 5:30 a.m. and asked her for directions while walking near Adams Boulevard at Normandie Ave., police said. He whipped out a gun and forced her into a nearby yard where he raped the girl.
Authorities later linked DNA evidence to the “teardrop rapist.”
The FBI is providing the LAPD with assistance.
