A Georgia girl's family has been awarded $72 million nearly five years after she lost part of her arm in a vicious pit bull attack, WSB reported.
Erin Ingram was just 8 when she was badly mauled by two dogs in Lithonia in March 2010.
"They were biting me on my arms and on my ankles," she told a Dekalb County jury, according to the station. "I was screaming for help."
The attack left Erin's other arm disfigured, and she has scars on her ankle, WSB reported.
The owner of the pit bulls maintained the dogs broke out of the kennel when she wasn't home.
In the criminal trial three years ago, several jurors cried as Erin recounted the attack, CBS reported.

A police officer testified that if he didn't fatally shoot one of the dogs, Erin would not have survived, CBS reported. The second pit bull was captured and later euthanized.
Pet owner Twyann Vaughn, who was found guilty of six misdemeanors, apologized to Erin and her family.
"I'm just very, very sorry that it all happened," Vaughn said in 2010, according to WSB. "I'm just very, very sorry that it all happened and I just want to express that to the family. I hope Erin's doing well. I really do."
