Brooklyn-bred, Calvin Bacote is acknowledged and glorified amongst many creditable artist such as Jay-Z, Akon, and French Montana, all who have mentioned him in their music. Upon Calvin’s release in 2004 he was asked to manage Akon who became an international platinum recording artist under his management. Calvin helped build the Konvict Music label and brand. Throughout his journey in the music industry Calvin created a network of high profile relationships.
Author of "Neighborhoods Under Seige," Calvin speaks in schools empowering children to explore their options and avoid making bad decisions. Life Camp, which is a New York based non-profit, invited Calvin to speak at Rikers Island. From there he decided to create a workshop known as the T.I.M.E. program. His workshop was called the most engaging exercise that was done by the captain. He developed a series of workshops at the request of the facility’s events captain and was granted NYC Dept. of Corrections approval. Whether it is detention centers, churches, schools, jails or bookstores, Calvin seeks to spread his message to the world. After becoming a vendor for the NYC Board of Education, he has started the Calvin Bacote Foundation, which will provide resources to the public, conduct workshops, mentoring for those recently and soon to be released from prison and panel discussions.
