Ex-con injured in drug-related Harlem shooting in June dies 

Jorge Briu, 32, was shot in the neck on June 19 and died of complications the day before Christmas, police said. He and another man were targeted as part of a dispute over how much money changed hands during a drug deal, according to court papers.

A 32-year-old man who was gravely wounded in a drug-related double shooting in Harlem in June died from his wounds the day before Christmas, police said Friday.
Jorge Briu was shot in the neck and Arnold Cobo, 21, blasted in the head as they sat together inside a vehicle at W. 136th St. and Riverside Drive about 11:45 p.m. on June 19, cops said.
Briu, who served two stints in state prison on drug charges, and Cobo were targeted as part of a dispute over how much money changed hands during a drug deal, according to court papers.
Cobo survived, but Briu, who lived near the shooting scene, died of complications from his gunshot wound at 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday at Weiler/Einstein Hospital in the Bronx, police said.
Jonathan Suero, 22, was arrested for the shooting in July and charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Due back in court Feb. 19, Suero will likely face upgraded charges. He is being held on Rikers Island in lieu of $1 million bond.
