A Florida family is under investigation for placing children in the trunk of a car when leaving a restaurant.
A disturbing online video was taken outside a CiCi's pizza shop in Jacksonville, Fla., as a family is seen placing kids in the trunk before driving away.
The matter is now under investigation by the state's Department of Children and Families. Department spokesman John Harrell told the Daily News the agency was disturbed not only by the family's actions, but that the video received hundreds of thousands of views before anyone reported it to the proper authorities.
A woman captured the scene on video and posted it on Facebook where it has gotten nearly 2 million views since March 26.
In the video, she is heard telling a friend how troubled she is at the family's actions, but Harrell said they were not notified of the incident until Monday — four days after it first appeared on Facebook.
"Any neglect or abuse can get worse over time," Harrell said. "We need the public's help to report these incidents when they see it occur."

The department cannot comment on details of the case due to state privacy laws, but Harrell said they have identified the "people we need to talk to."
The family appears to be used to this practice as they line up behind the white car and a few children jump in and lie down while the others look to see if anyone is watching.
"We are deeply disturbed by the video and that children would be treated that way," Harrell said. "We are absolutely concerned about the safety of the children."
The department will seek to investigate the family's living situation and talk to people who know them, he said.
"We need more information on what's going on in the home," he said.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office would be the agency to bring any potential criminal charges against the family, Harrell said.
A spokeswoman told The News that the agency reviewed the video.
"Based on what was reviewed in the short video there is no criminal activity to investigate at this time," the office said in a statement.
