Baby Michael Hodge was in critical condition at Jacobi Hospital after the incident in Soundview early Tuesday.

A 2-month-old Bronx baby was critically wounded when he was smashed in the head with a baseball bat by an attacker trying to hit the infant's father, police sources said Tuesday.
The shocking incident occurred about 12:20 a.m. near Noble and Lafayette Aves. in Soundview.
Little Michael Hodge was in the arms of his dad, Mel-Quann Hodge, 21, with his mom, Daphany Sanders, 22, nearby when two men in hoodies got out of a silver Toyota Camry.
One man swung a bat at the dad, striking his hand, but giving the baby the brunt of the blow, sources said.
When police arrived, they found Hodge and his son a long block away, at Noble and Story Aves.
The baby was rushed to Jacobi Hospital in critical condition, where he was stabilized and subsequently opened his eyes, sources said.
The attackers were being sought.
