Just moments after stepping out of her apartment, a little girl in Indiana was shot in the leg as she went to sell Girl Scout cookies, police said.

“It hurt, it hurt, it hurt,” she told her mother.
“They walked outside the door and they didn’t even get to make it across the lot and then the shots start ringing out,” said Mark Chandler, the mother’s boyfriend said.

“I came downstairs and she sitting over there, and that’s her little boot and the blood,” Chandler said. “It’s just ridiculous. She’s nine years old, man. She’s very smart. She don’t know nothing about no gun or no shots or whatever,” he told the station.
Police are searching for a blue Ford Expedition. Witnesses said they saw a hand come out of the vehicle window and fire two or three shots.
Police released no other information.
