The July death of a 21-year-old Brooklyn man is now being investigated as a murder, police said Friday.
Jachin Gentry was found in front of Marcus Garvey Blvd. near Greene Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant with a head wound at about 8:30 p.m. on July 22, police said. Gentry, who lived a few blocks away, died two days later at Bellevue Hospital.
The city medical examiner has ruled his death a homicide, police said Friday. There have been no arrests in his killing.
A woman named Salome Lowery, who identifies herself as Gentry’s mother on Facebook, posted an emotional message the day after he died.
“My child was taken away from me & not by God; but by some cowards that was envious, malicious, cruel & heartless,” she wrote.
“They knew he wasn’t a threat to them, the cowards left my son Jachin for dead on the street ... they beat my baby to death these cowards had no remorse.”
“I truly Thank God, that he gave me an opportunity to tell Jachin that I love him,” she added. “I be damned if justice doesn’t get served.”
