twisted Florida couple inflicted a nightmare childhood on two kids, locking them in closets, denying them food and forcing them to pick through the garbage for meals, police said.
Quincy Hazel and Sabrina Golden-Hazel were arrested for child neglect Sunday after one of the two children escaped from the Riviera Beach home and reported the years of abuse to police.
The 17-year-old runaway said he managed to escape the horror house about a month ago.
He spent several weeks living with a 19-year-old friend before he went to police headquarters Sunday to detail the twisted childhood he suffered alongside a 12-year-old girl, Riviera Beach officers told the Sun-Sentinel.
It’s unclear if Hazel and Golden-Hazel are the parents of the children or if the two kids are related.

Sabrina Golden-Hazel and Quincy Hazel were arrested on child neglect charges.

The teen said the couple locked him and the girl in a tiny closet for days at a time. They were forced to use a bucket as a toilet, and Hazel would periodically beat them with an extension cord, he said. The abuse started when they were very young, he said.
The two were rarely had food — just occasional rice and neck bones — and the boy frequently picked through the garbage for meals, he told officers.
He had been denied dental care for so long that most of his teeth had fallen out, police said. The teen said he frequently cries through the night because the pain is so bad.
The 12-year-old girl told police similar horror stories when they came to the home, WPBF reported.

The children told police they were locked inside a closet in their home for days at a time.

The two never saw doctors or dentists and did not attend school, police said.
Golden-Hazel told police that her children made up the abuse stories. They didn’t go to school because they were homeschooled, she claimed, and she didn’t take them to the doctor because they didn’t want to go.
Hazel and Golden-Hazel are being held on $100,000 bail.
