CALGARY, Alberta — Seven people were shot at a New Year’s Eve house party in Calgary, and one victim died in a hospital.
Canadian police said Thursday that an autopsy will be done Friday and the person’s identity won’t be released until then.
Police received calls just after 5 a.m. reporting shots fired.
Police said they don’t know how many suspects are involved and don’t have a motive for the shootings. A police spokesman called the shooting a “one-off” and suggested there was no danger to others in the city.
The mass shooting came a day after eight people were murdered by a family member in Edmonton, also in Alberta.
