Two fetuses were found bound in a blanket in the front yard of a San Diego man, authorities said.
Homeowner David Branford said he at first thought the bundle was a doll when he left his Fallbrook home to do some errands Friday.
But when he returned later in the day and looked under the blanket, he saw two fetuses, SanDiego6.com reported.
According to San Diego County Sheriff’s officials, the fetuses appeared to be about 20 weeks old and each had its umbilical cord attached to a single placenta.
“It’s absolutely disturbing to hear something like that in a town where I live,” resident Joey Wallace told the station.
The remains were left at Branford’s gate, authorities said. His house is near a Catholic church.
Homicide investigators are handling the case and are seeking help from the public in finding the mother.
