For five hours, passengers at Vienna's Volkstheater station ignored and stepped over a man who lay there suffering a heart attack.HANS PUNZ/ASSOCIATED PRESSFor five hours, passengers at Vienna's Volkstheater station ignored and stepped over a man who lay there suffering a heart attack.
A man who suffered a heart attack lay dying in one of Vienna's busiest subway stations for five hours, and was even stepped over by rushing passengers.
Austrian police say they have surveillance video of people ignoring the 58-year-old victim and stepping over him, reports the Local.
The man had collapsed in an elevator at the Volkstheater station on December 26. He remained there from 2 a.m. until 7 a.m.
Staff on the Vienna subway were supposed to conduct regular inspections of the station, but failed to do so.
He was eventually found by a cleaner at the station.
He was tended to by medics but died on the way to the hospital.
Cops are now considering whether to issue "failure to assist" complaints against those who ignored the dying man.
